Wow, February 2016 already :). How are we all doing? The year started well? What a ride it has been from 2015 to now. ChiswickBJJ has become WaveBJJ and we have opened a new venue in Elephant and Castle in South East London. This is in the little box park there called The Artworks. Our goal is to have two great schools one in Chiswick and one in Elephant and Castle. This gives us plenty of opportunities for training and means that if you live in Chiswick and work near Elephant and Castle you won’t ever have to miss training again.
Why WaveBJJ?
Well this was quite a simple decision as we needed a name that didn't limit us to the area and something that felt right for us as a club. We aren’t the usual martial arts club, we have a more chilled image. On top of the the old logo (new logo coming soon) had a wave in it so that meant we could evolve into something new. This opens up lots of opportunities for us to expand in the future.
What Will Happen To ChiswickBJJ?
ChiswickBJJ will always be around. It has been a great two and a half years so far and we will keep the old name going on social media and on the web. More for nostalgia and to remember our humble beginnings. We made some mistakes and had lots of successes. It will always be with us. So lets have a nostalgic look back at some of the highlights at ChiswickBJJ
A Look Back In Time
2013
- 01/05/2013 ChiswickBJJ opens with no students and some old 2cm thick blue mats in a dance studio in Arch 197.
28/05/2013 We have our grand opening class. With some of our first students joining.

2014
Here are is the start of Lorenzo's beard at a seminar with Buchecha
- 18/02/2014 Finally we get new mats! Really nice roll out ones that are 2 inches thick rather than 2 centimetres.
- 10/05/2014 Our anniversary and our first grading. This is where we gave out our first blue belts, to Daniel Tiller and Bobby Hussain.
- 19/07/2014 Lorenzo gets his black belt from Roger Gracie, after 8 years training.

- 21/09/2014 Our first group trip to the Globetrotters camp in Copenhagen, this was a great trip with lots of great memories
2015
- 21/03/2015 Kleos our first big group competition. We had a great outing with 6 competitors and 3 Medals, 2 golds and a silver.

- 12/12/2015 Our biggest grading yet with 7 new blue belts! We have come a long way from where we started. Everyone is doing so well and the coloured grades are finally coming :)

2016
- 25/01/2016 First class of our second school in Elephant & Castle, South East London, at The Artworks. A new beginning for a new year :)
- 01/02/2016 ChiswickBJJ becomes WaveBJJ and a new chapter in the story begins.
